Mason's two bottom teeth have been loose for a while now, but he won't wiggle them. We have to. We only get in a little bit of wiggling at a time though because he really doesn't like it and isn't convinced that it will be okay. Yesterday while wiggling it, we heard a small pop, and it was looser, but Mason started crying and that was that... or so he thought.
After the kids were all cleaned up from the chalk mess and they were ready for bed, Shawn asked Mason if he would let him try to pull his tooth out. Now, we've tried a few times before this per Mason's request, but it was never successful. Shawn uses suture to pull teeth around here, but Mason drools excessively and every time we would go to pull the suture would break. After thinking about it for a while Shawn decided to try something a bit different.
But by then, Mason wanted to stop and he was done. Like the good Mom I am, I bribed him with a roll of smarties and Shawn went to work again.
He wrapped the floss around the tooth several times and yanked it out. It happened so quickly Mason didn't even realize what just happened. Once it was out, his sad pout face was gone and his tongue was rubbing the empty spot. He thought it was so neat.
We helped him prepare his tooth in an envelope for the tooth fairy and then Shawn asked "What are we going to do with this?" Mason was honestly answering when he said "Send it to my friends." We just laughed, and told him his friends didn't want his lost tooth. We reminded him that we put it under our pillow and the tooth fairy comes to get it and gives us a prize. He was excited about that.
This morning as we were just starting the move and get ready Mason nonchalantly came into our room and told us he got a coin and then went and put it in his piggy bank. I was going to get a picture of him with it, but he was too quick form sleepy Mom to get the camera. He then came back and told me "I was brave, just like Connor", and he smiled a smile with one tooth missing.
