August Fun

Swimming:

We ended July, started August with swim lessons for Emma and Mason. Can I tell you that the kids are doing awesome! Their teacher is amazing! She got Mason to do things that I didn't know he could do. She also got Emma to listen and follow directions.

By the time we were done with swim lessons, Emma was swimming under water on her own and Mason was close behind her with his ability to swim on his own. We are really looking forward to having lessons again next year.

While Mason and Emma were learning to swim, Paige was learning to make friends. This is her friend Dillon M. They are in nursery together and their birthdays are somewhat close. Dillon's brothers were in Mason and Emma's swim class, so these two got to spend a whole hour together being crazy kids.

Nampa:

We made a whirlwind trip to Nampa for Grandma Kuhn's funeral August 20th.
We spent the weekend visiting family and a few friends, but really, we didn't have any extra time to just sit.

Spanish Fork's North Park:

Spanish Fork opened their new North Park at the end of the month and right before school started, the kids and I went there to play. This is the funnest place to play. They have fountains to play in, but the weather was a bit cool the day we went so we stayed on the playground.

Paige loved these swings. She would go high or low and loved not having to be belted into it.
She also loved the slide and the play gym. There is a tunnel connecting one of the slides to the other. She would sit in the tunnel hiding so Mom would freak out looking for her. She would come out all smiles and slid down the slide.


There are these climbing things that you balance on and go from one to the other. Emma likes them, Mason loved them. He just kept doing it again and again.

The park was such a great place to play right before school got back into session and life became a bit busier.Emma's 1st Day of school:

We were so lucky to have Shawn come home to ride bikes to take Emma to school on her first day. She was so excited to go. She got help from Dad getting her bike in the bike rack and the we walked to the Kindergarten doors.

Emma's teacher is on Maternity leave till the end of September and so she has a substitute. She likes her teacher, but I think she just likes school in general.

There were no tears at all. Not by her, not by me, not by Shawn. Paige and Mason were happy to see her go too. Although, I am sure Paige wanted to stay, and Mason really just wanted his own class (Emma's class is down the hall from Mason's class). We ride bikes with a few other kids on our street, and take turns which parent ride with them. It is nice to have a neighborhood where there are lots of kids so we rotate who is heading to the school and who picks up. I am sure as the year progresses, the kindergartners will be coming home with the older kids and no parents, but for now, we take turns picking them up. We are so happy for school to start. It is a good change, and we know that a consistent schedule will soon follow.
