Day 2 St. Croix, Day Adventures

Welcome to the beautiful St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. This was the first view we had when we woke up. It was pretty amazing. The temperature for the day was 86* with a slight breeze that was really nice. We docked in Frederiksted which is on the west side of the Island. There were vendors set up to sell just off the dock, but the town was really quiet as it was Sunday and a lot of the shops were closed. We got on a jeep tour of the Island that took us through the rain forest, along the Caribbean sea and on the Christiansted, which is a bit of a bigger town on the northeast side of the Island. Again, a lot of shops were closed because it was Sunday.  

 I loved these palm trees. They sit just between the port, and the city center in Frederiksted. You can see some of the vendor tents behind them. So beautiful.

 As we drove to the rain forest we passed this lush pasture and talked about how awesome it would be if we could have that kind of quality pastures in Wyoming, it's never going to happen.

 This is a driveway up to an animal sanctuary, but it was closed. They had very beautiful grounds.

 At the top of one of the hills, there's a place to pull over and look into the valley. There is a 5 star golf course and hotel in this valley. It's about a 20 minute drive to the shore. It probably was the fanciest place we saw on St. Croix.

 These trees are beautiful. It is call the flaming red tree. There are also yellow ones, but they weren't in bloom like the red ones were. There were only a few yellow ones we saw, but there were not very many flowers on the.

 This house was built at the top of a hill, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. It is built like a ship, and the piece hanging over the back side, yeah, that's the pool. Not sure I'd swim in that pool, hangin' off a cliff like that.

Christiansted is a small, old town. There was a really nice board walk we saw this guys swimming around. There were some of these fish that were probably 18" long and bigger. Shawn was saying it'd be nice to catch something like that some day.

We then strolled into town, where we came across these chickens that were running around town. The chicks were so cute, and very different from ours. They were playing around the police.

 We didn't take very many pictures around Christiansted. It was quaint and small, and it was so quiet. I wish we could have see what it was like during the week.
After we got back to the ship, we changed and headed over to the beach right off the pier. The sand was white, the water warm and the sun hot. We got a few fun pictures of the sea life.

  After swimming for a while, it started getting cloudy. There was practically NO people out and about so Shawn kept wondering if we changed time zones and we were going to miss our ship and be left behind.  This was probably my most favorite beach to swim at.

 This little guy, Shawn found and he looked like a stick at first but as Shawn swam by him, he opened up his wings as to warn him off. He was so beautiful. I guess it could of been a she also...
