Labor Day was a beautiful day. The kids were getting itchy to get back to the coast and so were we. So we headed to the Coast to spend the day. We went to Seal Rock State Park about 10 minutes south of Newport, Oregon. It was perfect. The Oregon Coast usually has strong winds that make being at the coast unbearably cold. Seal Rock was nice in the fact that there were large rocks that blocked a lot of that wind and we were able to enjoy a mostly warm afternoon. Shawn had a goal to find a star fish and bring it home. Luckie came to the rescue and found one in the sand on the other side of the beach area we were playing at.
After backpacking Carter down to the beach from the parking lot and around the beach before we set up our spot for the day he passed out in the pack. He took a good nap for a little over an hour. We were kinda wondering if he was ever going to wake up.
After he woke up he ate his lunch and got busy playing, just like everyone else. I think he loves the feel of the sand on his toes and hands.
And we now are the owners of a star fish that we found. We did some research on how to preserve it. It didn't go so well and lost a lot of color, but it is preserved and ours.
