A Birthday Boy

Shawn had a few days of celebrations for his birthday. We didn't plan anything real big on his birthday, since he was on call at work, and if we ever make plans while he is on call, he ends up being called away on an emergency. We opened a few presents, had his requested dinner and hung out for the evening.
This year Emma decided that she wanted to get him something from herself. He has a few watches, but the battery on one died, the other has a broken band and Emma was dedicated to getting daddy a few watches that he can wear and tell the time on. She was so proud of her self, but Shawn, liking his other watches talked to her and together they took them back and used the money she had spent to fix the broken watches. It was a good teaching moment for her.

Mason, Paige and I got him a leaf blower/vacuum. He has been wanting one, and we needed one for the rock garden around the house in the fall. He loves power tools anything. It was fun to see him so happy.

The meal requested was fried rice and crabby cream cheese won tons with Italian Soda's for a beverage. It was good. He was happy.
The evening after his birthday, some friends from Idaho came over to celebrate with a BBQ and some cake. Emma wanted to make a worm cake (like a dirt cake) and so when the friends showed up, guess who finished the cake? You got it, me. None the less, it was good cake, and he liked the decorations.

A few nights later we went to Tucanos in Provo. They have a birthday club and if you are a member you get a free b-day meal during the month of your birthday. We took all the kids (who ate for free) and had an enjoyable time stuffing ourselves fuller than we should have.

Not pictured was the Rodeo that we went to the evening before his big day. Shawn was actually working, but we got free tickets and took Emma and Mason, leaving Paige with a babysitter. The kids enjoyed it more that we thought they would. We were so busy talking to Mason and helping him stay with us that the camera was pretty much forgotten. There were a few moments I wish I could have remembered to take some pictures, but capturing the moment would have needed more than a still shot.
