Project: Finish Basement

When you have a mini van, who says you need a truck to carry "truck loads"? We have loaded this little guy down several times with several different loads and we are always thinking how nice it would be to have a truck.
We passed the 2x4's through the basement window and then Shawn had to wait a few weeks to get any work done. He is so happy to be finally working on this project.
The starting point had to be clearing the basement of all the stuff we have been storing in there. We sold some stuff, got rid of some and put in an overhead storage shelf in the garage for all the baby stuff we aren't using at the moment.

We borrowed a few tools, bought a few tools (as you always do for new projects) and pulled out a few old ones. Shawn was really excited to finally get an air compressor, on for it to break and we had to take it back and exchange it. I almost feel like I don't know what to do for his upcoming Father's Day and Birthday gifts.

We finally got up the first wall. By the time the wall was put in place, the kids were in bed. Emma especially was so excited to see it in the morning.
We then got a call from Shawn's dad asking if we could use some help and could he come for a week. In that week, he got a lot done.

They worked hard on putting up the hatch channel around the air intakes and venting. Shawn got a good upper body work out holding his arms up for so long.

Together (mostly Kirk) they got up all the walls and got it all ready for electrical, plumbing and venting. We got the bath tub, toilet, all the electrical (as we are running that ourselves with some supervision) and plumbing and the vanity lights.

These boys worked hard all we and got a lot done. We still have a lot to do, but this was a piece of the project that was really nice to get done.
