The Miracle of Life

Hangin' with the lamb's and kids!One of the many jobs Shawn currently is working at, is a disease lab. It has by far been the most enjoyable job Shawn has had since we have been in school. He started last year and was pretty much in charge of the breeding of the Goats, Sheep and the Horse herd. Right now is Kidding (baby goats) and lambing (baby sheep) season. Through out the day and night there is someone scheduled to go in and check on all the animals and make sure that nothing is going wrong with any animal that might be in the birthing process.

Emma LOVES this season. Shawn works about every other weekend, and Emma loves to go with Daddy and "help" him with his work. This afternoon just happened to be a little more exciting for her than other trips in with Dad. For one, it was just Emma and Dad. The other reason, she got to see two little Kids (Baby Goats) born. She was so excited to come home and share this wonderful news! Right away she said "I want to call Grandma and tell her!" Shawn said that she wasn't grossed out by the birth, but she did say that the Goat scared her when is was pushing and making noises. I was sure that she could be too young to witness something so incredible as birth, but she just loved seeing these little babies come to life!

The other fun things she enjoys is that the babies are just her size. We can't wait till we have some land of our own to have our own animals to raise and play with!
