Pumpkin Carving 2011

We planted pumpkins in our garden this year solely for the purpose of carving them for Halloween. We were not disappointed with what we got. We got 9 great pumpkins out of the garden before we had a small freeze that killed the plant.
Sunday evening we all went into the back yard and gutted the pumpkins. All the kids thought the guts were slimy, but all of them enjoyed touching it and scooping it out.

Paige and Dad carved her pumpkin together. She was so excited as it started to form a face.

I probably took 6 pictures of Mason and his pumpkin and this is the only one we have with his eyes open. I just laugh at his expression. He's such a funny boy. He helped Mom draw the face and then helped take out the pieces as they were cut out.

Mom helped draw the face on Emma's pumpkin, and then Dad helped her carve it. She was pretty pleased with the turn out.

Then Halloween Night, the were glowing just like we wanted.
Emma's:
This is as far as Mom got on carving her's and then the carving knives broke. It was suppose to have a pumpkin, a moon and say trick or treat on it, but the knives we had were too big and they weren't going to work. Oh well.
Here's Mason's!
And Paige's:
